Raising Awareness for Multiple Sclerosis Month

March 2, 2018

Since March is officially recognized as Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month, it is important that we as a community bring attention to the autoimmune disease and do as best as we can to spread awareness. Becoming an advocate for MS requires only one thing; passion. All you have to do is have the desire to assist those within the MS community.

Help Everyone Understand

This is the first big step you can take to create more awareness about MS. Share information about your disease in any way that you can. You can start with social media—share the way in which MS affects your everyday life through social platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. You can also put up awareness posters in places like your school or workplace, and wear orange or an orange MS ribbon to strike up some conversation.

Start by simply taking part in organized events for MS non-profit organizations and charities. Large events and organizations could always use a helping hand by a fellow MSer as well as their family and friends. Getting your close friends and family to volunteer alongside you can help them be advocates as well, which is a great bonus. You can even host your own fundraising event for an MS non-profit organization.

There are plenty of events you can join and participate in with your friends and family and others who want to create awareness about the disease. Now that the weather is getting warmer, events like Swim for MS, Walk for MS, Bike for MS, Climb for MS and Dine for MS are available for you to engage in and make a change. You can also search all organized MS events in your local area and see what is going on in your community.
