Washington Nationals Ryan Zimmerman Nominated for Man of the Year Award Based on Work With the MS Community

September 6, 2017

The Washington Nationals named Ryan Zimmerman as their team’s representative for the Roberto Clemente Man of the Year Award. Each team gets a finalist, who has distinguished themselves for the work they do off the field in their communities.

Fans will be able to vote for Zimmerman between the dates of October 2nd and 6th. This is Zimmerman’s 5th time on the ballot of the award.

Since 2006, Zimmerman’s foundation, the “ziiMS Foundation”, has been around to help raise money for programs that help people who have multiple sclerosis (MS). His mother, Cheryl, was diagnosed with the horrible disease back in 1995.

Zimmerman said on the team’s website: “My family has given me the support to fulfill my dreams. The Washington Nationals have given me the opportunity to play the game that I love at the highest level in our nation’s capital. I am thrilled to have launched a foundation that I hope can make a real impact in the life of my family as well as many others afflicted by MS.”

Here’s hoping that Zimmerman can take home the award and congratulations to all the players who were nominated this year.
