Multiple Sclerosis Friendly Recipes

June 24, 2016

As is customary, every Friday we will provide you with 3 easy to prepare MS friendly recipes to try this weekend.

Strawberry, Lime, Cucumber and Mint Infused Water

Staying hydrated is super important year round, but during the summer it should become even more of a priority since the blazing heat can exhaust you and worsen your MS symptoms. A way to spice up your H2O intake is to play around with different kinds of infused water, as they also provide you with additional nutrients that your body craves. This summer-loving hydrating water is infused with sliced cucumbers, strawberries, lime and mint, and there you have it! While this naturally flavorful drink is perfect the way it is, making a habit of creating your own infused water will do wonders for your health.

Avocado Turkey Burgers

Nothing says summer like a good old juicy burger--but they are not exactly the healthiest choice coming off the grill.  You can make this easy recipe by using a lean meat alternative like ground turkey (or chicken, whichever makes your tummy happiest) and adding in some diced avocado, green onions and cilantro. After grilling your patties, you can either go traditional with a bun (I would suggest using whole wheat) or lay it atop a bed of arugula and sliced tomatoes then top it off with some fresh salsa, or if you are like me, extra avocado. You can get the exact recipe here.

Paleo Creamsicle Macaroons

This naturally sweetened delight is the perfect way to end a meal, or a perfect snack for those of you with a sweet tooth. All you need for this gluten free, dairy free and nut free sweet are egg whites, unsweetened coconut, coconut milk, honey, orange zest, orange juice and vanilla.
