Montel Williams to Speak About Medical Cannabis at New York Event

American TV personality and medical cannabis advocate Montel Williams will speak at the 5th annual Cannabis World Congress and Business Exposition in New York City from May 30 to June 2.

As Williams uses medical cannabis to manage his multiple sclerosis symptoms, he will discuss medical cannabis’ legalization and acceptance—a movement that has gained increasing attention in the MS community in recent years.

His speech will be presented at 10 a.m. Friday, June 1, at the Javits Convention Center. The time of this presentation will coincide with a time in the Tri-state area of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, where the interest of the legalization and acceptance of medical and recreational cannabis is building.

“I’ve been actively involved in reforms passed throughout the Tri-state region, and I’m very much looking forward to the opportunity to deliver the keynote at CWCBExpo here in the city I called home for so many years,” said Williams in a press release.

The former naval officer, author, radio and TV talk show host, entrepreneur and wellness advocate was diagnosed with MS in 1999 and has been using cannabis products since his diagnosis to manage his symptoms.

In September of 2016, Williams created a medical cannabis-related company, LenitivLabs, in order to develop a line of high-quality products, fund research, work closely with regulators and provide prober education on medical cannabis to the public.

LenitivLabs also teamed up with BAS Research, California’s first licensed medical marijuana manufacturing and research company in order to develop and product market medical-grade cannabis products.

BAS creates products aimed at those with chronic illnesses like MS as well as other kinds of serious conditions such as cancer and epilepsy, along with those who experience severe amounts of pain.

Even before developing LenitivLabs, Williams had worked on advocacy campaigns that assisted in passing medical marijuana legislation in the states of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

This New York held business-to-business event targets members of the legalized cannabis industry and is one of the leading forums for dispensary owners, growers, suppliers, investors, medical professionals, government regulators, lawyers and entrepreneurs in the medical cannabis field.

Participants are given the opportunity to network and discuss the future of legalization of cannabis. Industry experts in the fields of agriculture, science, law, etc. will also include presentations, lectures and discussions. They will cover topics ranging from the basics of cannabis to policy, legal and advocacy discussions.
